The Needy Rectangle Challenge.
31 days to change how you use your phone.
An online challenge for women in Australia + New Zealand.
1–31 October 2026 | Founding round $79 AUD
Somehow, the phone got a bit too involved.
You picked it up to check one thing.
Forty minutes later, you’re reading something you didn’t care about, replying to a message you could have answered tomorrow, and wondering why you are watching your 700th cat video.
The thing is, your phone IS useful.
It’s entertaining.
It makes a ridiculous number of everyday things easier.
And it can also be A LOT.
The Needy Rectangle Challenge is a 31-day online challenge for women who want to change the way their phone fits into everyday life.
Not by deleting everything.
Not by swearing off social media.
And definitely not by pretending you’re going to become someone who only checks their phone at 4.15pm on alternate Thursdays.
We’re going to try practical, sensible changes and work out what actually helps.
One small challenge each day.
Every day in October, a new activity will appear inside the private challenge site.
Some will take a few minutes.
Some will be things you keep trying for a few days.
Some will make an immediate difference.
Some may turn out to be deeply annoying.
That’s fine.
The point isn’t to follow a perfect set of phone rules.
It’s to spend a month actually testing what helps you use your phone in a way that feels better in your real life.
Expect things like:
Stop Summoning Me
Make It Ugly
Home-Screen Surgery
And yes, there will be optional Side Quests too.

What’s included.
-
One new activity released each day throughout October.
-
Enough context to understand what we are doing and why.
-
Everything in one place, with comments under each day so you can compare notes with other women doing it too.
-
Optional extra activities for when you feel like making things interesting.
-
One in the first week of the challenge and one in the last week.
-
One evening where we all put the phones down at the same time.
No livestream.
Obviously.
This is probably for you if…
You get 50 notifications from five different school apps before you’ve even had lunch.
Your home screen looks like your email inbox threw up on it.
You unlock your phone to check the weather and somehow end up on Instagram.
You have apps you don’t even remember downloading shouting little red numbers at you all day.
You’ve opened the same app three times in ten minutes but you can’t remember why.
You reach for your phone in every tiny gap: waiting for the kettle, standing in a queue, sitting in the car before school pickup.
You’ve tried screen-time limits and simply pressed Ignore for Today.
You don’t want to give up your phone.
You just want it to be less involved in everything.
